Saddleboy is the simple solution to an old problem for left-handed guitarists. The conventional right-handed guitar incorporates an important and irreversible design feature - the saddle angle. The saddle angle compensates the heavier bottom strings which require a longer scale length than the lighter top strings in order to maintain pitch along the length of the fretboard. Without expensive and irreversible modification, a right-handed guitar strung ‘upside down’ has the opposite saddle angle (essential for correct intonation) resulting in the guitar being out of tune when played. Saddleboy is a conversion kit manufactured from Resonite, an advanced resin specially researched and developed by Saddleboy, and is supplied with full fitting instructions. The idea of Saddleboy came in 1997 when left-handed guitarist Mark Hanns saw another left-handed player buying an expensive 1950’s Gibson J200 acoustic and then routing out the bridge to enable the saddle angle to be reversed, seriously devaluing the instrument and limiting its resale potential as a right-handed guitar. The Saddleboy intonator dispenses with this radical treatment as it simply push fits into the existing right-handed rout, enabling almost any acoustic guitar to be used as a left-handed model. The kit provides two intonators - a 5-degree and a 3-degree. The 3-degree fits almost all production models, except some Yamahas which have a 5-degree angle. Saddleboy includes both intonators within the kit, so any guitar can be converted. Also supplied are four 1mm shims (two for each intonator), one left-handed 43mm nut and one left-handed 45mm nut
