Hanson Bb Cornet - Ex Lease - Excellent - Just £89.99 Great Student Instrument
HANSON (made by BACH) Bb CORNET (EX 'MUSIC FOR SCHOOLS' MODEL) EXCELLENT CONDITION Serial No: 1011020 Through an arrangement with a very large instrument retailer, I specialise in selling ex display and ex lease instruments and accessories, surplus stock as well as items which have been returned by customers who have changed their minds. These represent excellent value for money, and can save you £££s off the normal price. It is an ex lease instrument, just a few months old, which was supplied to a school for a pupil to learn on, but has clearly had very little use. It has therefore been returned in excellent condition, and looks almost like a new instrument - lovely valve action, all slides move freely, with a nice, lightweight case (with 2 removable straps) and a standard mouthpiece. There are no dents or other damage - just one or two light marks from normal handling.I've sold a large number of ex lease and ex demo trumpets and cornets over the last few months (with very positive feedback), and this, like most of them, is in great condition. Hanson is a UK company based in Yorkshire, with a fantastic reputation for quality instruments. Originally specialising in clarinets, which they still manufacture from scratch at their Yorkshire factory, they now offer a wide range of wind instruments, including saxes, flutes, cornets etc. The cornets are produced for them by Bach, the world's largest manufacturer of wind instruments, and are essentially the same cornet as the Bach Prelude CR700/710 (with 'Hanson', rather than 'Prelude' engraved on the bell). CR-700 Specifications: Bb cornet0.459" boreyellow brass bell and leadpipebrass inner and outer slidesnickel plated nickel pistons1st slide thumb hookstandard mouthpiecesupplied in quality lightweight foam moulded case with 2 detachable shoulder strapsAre these cornets any good? There has been wonderful feedback from teachers on this instrument including the leading Trumpet player and Professor at the Royal College of Music Paul Archibald. His (unedited) comments are repeated below: "The Bach Prelude Trumpet and Cornet has to be one of the best buys of the year! The instruments are well-made, feel like a Bach, and play incredibly well given the price. Intonation is very good and a case and mouthpiece are included in the price! Most of my students at the RCM placed them in the £800 bracket so it's a great starter instrument and probably beyond." The quote below is from a customer who bought one of these cornets from me in December 09 "Hi Paul, just a line to say how pleased I am with the Cornet. I am an intermediate level player but tonight I had a lesson with my trumpet teacher who is the principal Cornet/Trumpet bandsman with the Portsmouth Royal Marines Band. He was impressed with the sound and quality of the instrument. And the price !On his advice we changed the supplied mouthpiece for a plastic Kelly 4B. This really did open up the sound to a much warmer mellow tone . These pieces only cost £12.00 so it is a very cheap upgrade plus they come in many funky colours too !Again many thanks for the cornet." Ian Simkins 20/12/09 If you're still wondering if they are any good, I sold one on Saturday 21 November to a customer who came to my house to try a selection of cornets. She is an extremely accomplished player, who has been concentrating on the trumpet for the last few years, but has decided to buy a cornet again so she can join a brass band. She was completely 'blown away' (no pun intended!) by the Sonata, which sounded fantastic right through the range. Admittedly she brought her own mouthpiece, but was able to reach the very top notes with little effort - in fact she said it was easier to get them on the Sonata than on her - very expensive - Bach Strad trumpet! She thought it the perfect student instrument which - with the right mouthpiece - could easily take a player up to grade 7 or 8. I was delighted to hear these comments (and the wonderful music coming from the cornet) as my pathetic attempts to play a scale on it definitely do not impress potential buyers! I wish I had recorded her testing it... The Bach Prelude equivalent has a RRP of £270, but is usually sold at around £190 I am offering this Hanson version at a VERY SPECIAL Buy It Now price of £89.99, saving you £££s for an instrument which is just a few months old, and is in virtually new condition. Collection/delivery You are welcome to collect (I live in Tutbury, just outside Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, DE139JT) or I will post to anywhere in the UK by Parcelforce Express48 for £13.50.
